Soundtrack to My *Kickass* Life

I truly believe that everyday should have a song. I grew up on music, so it's always had a crucial place in my life. I knew the words to every Mamma Mia and Backstreet Boys song before I was five years old. And let me tell you, backstreet’s back.

I haven’t written anything in a while because a) I moved back to school in August and have been going NONSTOP since then and b) I have been completely uninspired in the writing department, like serious writer’s block. I never want to force myself to write because I think it's important stay true to myself and the intentions I had when creating this website. But, I have returned with the very best news… I have received the magical opportunity to come to POPSUGAR’s New York branch office and I’m. In. HEAVEN. The place isn’t even that cool, but nonetheless, I stepped foot in this building and was immediately inspired. I sound like an idiot but let me tell you, there is something in the air up here.

For those of you that don’t know, it is my one and only life goal to move to New York for some period of time and work (well, rule) the fashion industry- obviously. I got a little nervous that this dream of mine was just something that sounded great in my head and was going to be terrible if it ever came to fruition, but it’s better than I could ever imagine. There are so many creative outlets in this city that aren't attainable in a lot of other places in the world.

Coming back to my point about music: today deserve a kickass song, and I don’t use the word kickass lightly. Something along the lines of Elton John’s Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting or AC/DC’s Shoot to Thrill. I’m talking head-banging, conquer the world type of stuff. And it feels good to be inspired again. Having no creative juice flow at all is really hard coming from a person that enjoys it so much.

I’m now going to challenge myself, and I assume you will follow in suit, to choose a song every day. Not much a little bit of music can’t change. Like a killer guitar solo... does the trick every time.

Long story short, I belong here. Point and case. No one can change my mind. Watch out NYC, this girl is coming in HOT.

And of course, to end in true Lucy Barrow fashion, and I say this because it's how I truly feel today, from the killer song The Boys are Back in Town, “Man, when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot. I mean, she was steaming.”
